STEPHEN JOHN QUINLAN & KARYN BAILEY
Platch / 2025 / Solid cherry, ceramics / 88 x 50 x 43 cm
Platch is born of the desire for playful dialogue between materials. An attempt at whimsical functionality - a cuddle puddle of wood and clay. The two nesting coffee tables, made from cherry, will integrate drippy ceramic embellishments and propose an anomalous presentation of flowers from the garden.

Based in Tiohtià:ke, Stephen (he/him) has been working under Loïc Bard since graduating from RTC in 2022. With a background in music, puppetry, and dance, he moved from the performing arts to trade school during the pandemic. Bois Magique No. 3 would mark his first foray into independent design, drawn by organic shapes, dancing lines, and more improvisational approaches to creation.
mudmuddd is the ceramic practice of Karyn Bailey (she/they), focused on making everyday objects fun and functional through the use of playful shapes, colours, and textures. Since 2022, they have co-managed Plaza Studio Céramique alongside Eunice Kim. This fall, they plan to attend the Cabinetmaking program at RTC to explore working with wood and to learn a new craft.
