PRÉCESSION
Composés de pointes délicates, de tiges nervurées, de formes cloutées et de textures douces et plumeuses, les éléments s'inspirent du langage des outils BDSM et de l'intimité queer. La sculpture est réalisée en bronze, bois, cuir, tissu et laine. La combinaison de ces matériaux transforme leurs qualités tactiles en une étude de la texture, de la forme et de la tension matérielle.
L'œuvre explore la manière dont le design et la sculpture se croisent à travers le processus : du modelage de formes en cire molle selon la technique de la cire perdue à la transformation en métal rigide, en passant par le raffinement des surfaces qui invitent au toucher malgré leur apparente retenue. La pièce intègre plusieurs formes d'artisanat, notamment la joaillerie, la fonte du bronze et le travail du bois. Le bronze, un matériau historiquement associé à la durabilité, à la commémoration et à la permanence, porte également un héritage lié au colonialisme et à la propagande occidentaux. L'associer à des symboles queer, gays et non binaires vise à déstabiliser ces récits historiques.
En transformant ces objets intimes en bouquet, l'œuvre offre des gestes de tendresse, d'attention et de pouvoir queer. À une époque où les vies et les intimités queer continuent d'être politisées, effacées ou réduites à des stéréotypes, cet objet insiste sur leur profondeur, leur tendresse et leur permanence. Il offre un espace où l'amour et le désir ne sont ni simplifiés ni cachés, mais conservés avec soin et précision, contribuant ainsi à une archive qui refuse de les laisser s'estomper.
DARIA FONTAINE PASQUALI
est un.e artiste établi.e à Tiohtià:ke / Montréal. Sa pratique fusionne des processus industriels et des traditions artisanales pour créer des environnements tactiles qui explorent le genre, l’intimité, le pouvoir et la transformation. À partir de matériaux tels que l’aluminium, le bronze, le bois, l’argile, la gélatine et le papier, Daria construit des environnements sculpturaux dans lesquels cohabitent douceur et sévérité, confort et inconfort, fragilité et force. Au cœur du travail de Daria se trouve une recherche approfondie sur la façon dont les matériaux conservent la mémoire et le toucher. Son travail a été exposé localement à Livart, à la galerie FOFA, à Ada X et aux Ateliers Belleville, ainsi que dans le cadre d’expositions collectives à la Cooper Union Gallery à Manhattan et à l’A_Space à Brooklyn. Daria est titulaire d'un baccalauréat en beaux-arts avec grande distinction en sculpture de l’Université Concordia.

PRECESSION
Made from delicate spikes, ribbed stems, studded forms, and soft feathered textures, the components draw from the language of BDSM tools and queer intimacy. The sculpture is crafted from bronze, wood, leather, fabric, and wool. The materials’ combination transforms their tactile qualities into a study of texture, form, and material tension.
The work explores how design and sculpture intersect through process: from the modelling of soft wax forms in the lost wax casting technique into rigid metal, to the refinement of surfaces that invite touch even in their apparent restraint. The piece integrates multiple forms of craftsmanship, including
jewellery-making, bronze casting, and woodworking. Bronze—a material historically associated with durability, commemoration, and permanence—also carries a legacy tied to Western colonialism and propaganda. Associating it with queer, gay, and non-binary symbols aims to destabilize these historical narratives.
By transforming these intimate objects into a bouquet, the work offers gestures of tenderness, care, and queer power. In a time when queer lives and intimacies continue to be politicized, erased, or reduced to stereotypes, this object insists on their depth, tenderness, and permanence. It offers a space where love and desire are not simplified or hidden, but held with care and precision, contributing to an archive that refuses to let them fade.
DARIA FONTAINE PASQUALI
is an installation-based artist working in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal. Their practice merges industrial processes with craft traditions to create tactile environments that explore gender, intimacy, power, and transformation. Working with materials such as aluminum, bronze, wood, clay, gelatin, and paper, Daria constructs sculptural environments in which softness and severity, comfort and discomfort, fragility and strength coexist. At the core of Daria’s work is a sustained investigation into how materials hold memory and touch. Their work has been exhibited locally at Livart, FOFA Gallery, Ada X, and Les Ateliers Belleville, as well as in group exhibitions at Cooper Union Gallery in Manhattan and A_Space in Brooklyn. Daria holds a BFA in Sculpture with Great Distinction from Concordia University.
