Argument Chairs is part of a series of furniture for very specific purposes that is intended to draw out and channel particular forms of attention. This pair of chairs, connected by a canopy, carves out intentional space to create the opportunity to work through conflict. It asks us to confront our frustrations directly, to “lock horns” and stay with the discomfort until it transforms.
Bio
I am an artist and furniture maker living between Minneapolis, Minnesota and Montreal In the woodshop and at my sewing machine, I combine wood, textiles, clay, and foraged materials to create works that alter, record, and draw attention to the user’s movement and gestures. My work is driven by an enduring fascination with ecology, which I conceive of as “that which surrounds and permeates us” while paradoxically eluding our attention.
